Lisa Christel, M.Ed., DT

Developmental Therapist

My name is Lisa Christel. I have had a life-long commitment and passion to work with young children and their families by providing services that follow best practices in the field of Early Intervention. I received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education with a minor in Child Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1992. I then attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where I obtained a Master’s in early Intervention and Family Support in 1993.

I have provided developmental therapy services in a number of capacities and in 5 different states. I have served as a direct service provider in families’ homes or daycare centers, a consultant to an Early Intervention program, a director of an Early Intervention program, as well as a long-term substitute for a K-3rd grade class of children with Autism. I currently serve as a developmental therapist, working in a child’s natural environment with his/her primary care providers.
My hope in being part of the Reduce the Wait project is to help families of children with a potential Autism diagnosis have answers sooner and move forward with all of the needed support, resources, and services. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, biking, or hiking.
