Developmental Therapist
Lisa Christel has had a life-long commitment and passion to work with young children and their families by providing services that follow best practices in the field of Early Intervention. She received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education with a minor in Child Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1992. She then attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she obtained a Master’s in early Intervention and Family Support in 1993.
She has provided developmental therapy services in a number of capacities and in 5 different states. She has served as a direct service provider in families’ homes or daycare centers, a consultant to an Early Intervention program, a director of an Early Intervention program, as well as a long-term substitute for a K-3rd grade class of children with Autism. She currently serves as a developmental therapist, working in a child’s natural environment with his/her primary care providers.
Her hope in being part of the Reduce the Wait project is to help families of children with a potential Autism diagnosis have answers sooner and move forward with all of the needed support, resources, and services. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf, biking, or hiking.
